Manual
Transmissions

A manual transmission (also known as
a stick shift or just stick, straight drive, or standard transmission) is a
type of transmission used in automotive applications. Manual transmissions feature a driver-operated clutch and a movable gear selector.
In a manual transmission, gears slide along
shafts as you move the shift lever from one position to another, with the
use of a clutch, engaging various sized gears as required in order to
provide the correct gear ratio. If the transmission grinds when
going into gear or it pops out of gear while you are driving, you need to
have the transmission looked at by a trained professional. If you
can't get the transmission in gear when you depress the clutch or the
vehicle doesn't move when you release the clutch, you should have your
clutch and hydraulic system diagnosed immediately. Remember, towing
is FREE at Montgomery BCC Transmissions with a major repair.
